Name: James Ford, known to the other islanders as Sawyer
Personality: A smart-talking rebel, Sawyer’s penchant for giving places and people colourful and often insulting nicknames, hoarding items and generally pissing people off makes him easily “top of everyone’s most hated list”. But it’s a bit more complicated than that – he incites others to hate him because he loathes himself. It has also been suggested that he has suicidal tendancies. Certainly his actions and attitudes are dominated by guilt
Sample post:
“I just don’t get you.”
Kate stood, hand on hip, intent on weighing him up. And – Sawyer had to admit – it wasn’t a bad view. Certainly far more engaging than the blurry print which had so far occupied his dull, hot morning and, until now, looked set to dominate his dull, hot afternoon. He seemed to be spending pretty much his whole time reading now – something no one could have predicted even a few days back, least himself. But, then again, he’d never planned on being marooned on some godforsaken rock in the middle of nowhere either.
But back to her question. So, she wanted to figure him out? Some small part still thought that a triumph. There was no denying her… assets, and there was a fire about her which, mothlike, would have attracted the old James. The new one was more like a cat on seeing a mirror, some instinctive reaction dulling, but not killing, the impulse to strike out. So, the truth, then? Or more games?
“What’s to figure, freckles?” – Sawyer’s lazy Southern drawl punctuated by the click as, book discarded, he lit up – “And by the way,” he grinned, “you’re in mah light”
