Locke had just left Charlie and Claire who had seemed content in just sitting and chatting. That was all too..... passive for John Locke. Admitedly he had been a regional collection supervisor for a box company and in a wheelchair- not a very exciting exsistance but the island bought out everyone's inner desires and passions and Lockes was survival.
Locke smiled to himself, it was still odd that he was now walking on two legs instead of on rotating wheels. It was nice, it made him feel free. What would that jerk Randy say now? And come to that what would the travel agent at the Walkabout say? Misrepresented himself huh? Had he never heard of Norman Croucher. Norman Croucher, double amputee, no legs. He climbed to the top of Mt. Everest. Why? It was his destiny.
Locke had come to Australia for one purpose and one alone. A journey of spiritual renewal, where one derives strength from the earth. And becomes inseparable from it, or so he believed. The island was Locke's walkabout, his destiny and it would reward him.

Hurley had been napping in the shade. Thinking that maybe, if he went to sleep. He would wake up and this could have all been some horrible dream. He was out of luck. As he had been since he had won the lottery using those damn numbers. If he could go back in time. He would give up all his money just to be out of this place. He was rather large in appearance, the largest of them all. At least, the ones he had seen on his way here. He shrugged and kept walking. After a nap he is always hungry and he happens to be starving after a huge plane accident.
As he walked, partially in a daze he came across a man who appeared to be thinking about something. He was a bit nervous that he might interupt something but he needed to have a conversation with someone. He decided he would go talk to him anyways considering the fact that he had to eventually make friends on this island. There's no telling how long he would be here.
"Hey, um dude, I'm Hurley. What's up?
He studied this man for a moment. He was older than Hurley by the looks of it. But still in good shape. He was thin, bald, and had the look of an old boyscout to put it in Hurley's words. The man looked happy about something. Perhaps it was something that had nothing to do with the island. He couldn't imagine anything about being in a plane crash thrilling or exciting. He shrugged again and sat himself down in the soft sand.

John took his eyes off the fish for a moment and looked directly at the..... large man who had sat in the sand beside him.
"Hello Hurley." he said, smiled and looked back towards the fish. "Are you hungry Hurley?" he asked. "If you are, you'll need to help me make a fire and I hope you are used to small portions, there will be four of us sharing."
John took a swiss army knife from his pocket and slit open the belly of the fish. He would have to gut it if there was any hope of a tasty meal.
((sorry for the really bad post, really really bad!))

Hurley turned to look at the man. Friendly enough, and he was offering him food. Something he could not refuse no matter what. He watched the man of whom he still did not know the name of slit the belly of the fish. Having a weak stomach Hurley turned away from the sight of the fish and held his stomach.
"Sure, I'm hungry. Last thing I ate was a bag of peanuts on the plane...Want me to get some wood? And--do I get to know your name?"
He was staring out at the water now. Still afraid of what might be seen if he turned his head to look. His frizzy hair stuck out in all directions and there was a cut on his arm. Nothing bad at all. He stood up and looked around. Trying to see where there might be wood. Looking into the jungle he expected there would be wood all around. He looked around some more before waiting for the man to tell him what to do.
((No worries, it wasn't bad, this one is really...blah!))

((no it isn't it's really good )) Locke looked up again and smiled at Hurley. "Getting wood would be a really good idea, unless you're a fan of sushi." He looked down at the fish again. It looked disgusting. He took a clean handkerchief from his pocket and wrapped the fish tightly in it. "It will be ok if we leave it here," Locke picked up a small stone that had been lying on the beach and placed the fish beneath it. "Lets find some wood then." he said and stood up, turning towards the forest. ((aaaaaaaaaaaaargh, so bad I've said fish 3 times!!!!!! ))
