Angel "Yeah sure" She wanders around for a while, trying not to stray from the group. Not too far out she found one branch, she picked it up and gave it a wobble to see how sturdy it was, then she wandered around to see if she could find another one. Once she had the two tucked under her arm, she walked back to the group, dragging them behind her. They wern't so much heavy but definately difficult to carry. She looked over at Nate and said. "Here, will these do?" She started to strip off the leaves from the branches as she waited for her next order or suggestion from the only male she had come across. She has always looked at men from a dominating point of view, and this time she didn't feel threatened by his remarks, she needed some guidance from him, she hoped that he would proove useful and so far he has.

"They're great." Okay, great might be a bit of an overstatement, because nothing about this place was great.. But they were perfect for the task, which (Nate hated himself for thinking it) he hadn't expected from this woman... He wasn't a woman hater, far from it infact, vastly preferred their sensibilities to those of typical men most of the time, but something about Angel reminded him of his "beloved" ex-wife, and he had expected her to at least complain about broken nails.. but then again, that was stupid. There were far more important things to worry about, and they'd all have to change sooner or later. He shouldn't allow himself to be suprised when it happened.
"Great. Really.. Can you keep an eye on the others for a minute while I sort the rest out?" What had to happen next if they were going to build a stretcher wasn't something he wanted any of them to do.. because from what he remembered they needed coats, and pending the miraculous recovery of any luggage there was only one way they'd get any... He had to take control of things, give himself something to do to keep from thinking about what had happened. Before Angel could reply he headed over to Helena, kneeling down next to her again. "Hel, I'm just heading up beach for a minute.. I'll stay where you can see me, but I need you to stay here? Okay?" He shot a quick smile at Eponine, who all this was in aid of, knowing that Helena would be okay with her, then started up beach.
It didn't take long to find a suitable corpse (urch.. suitable corpse. How horrible did that sound?), face down, wearing a ludicrously expensive jacket. The better the jacket, first off the better it would have survived the crash, and secondly the better the quality of material that would support Eponine. That's it.. think objectively.. Oh hell! As Nate pulled on the sleeves, trying to remove the jacket, the man lolled around like a grotesque puppet, his head and limbs failing at wierd angles. Nightmarish.

Angel Nodded in agreeance she walked over to Tabitha and sat upon the log with Eponine and Helena, she looked to the little one and said. "Are you hungry. I have some fruit if you would like it?" She delved into her bag and pulled out a papaya and waved it around to see if she would respond by taking it.

The child nodded as the woman rejected her blanket...flattening it out in her lap a bit, she lightly traced the embroidered letters at the corner of it with her finger, tilting her head back and forth boredly, before the woman began to speak again.
"He does...?" She asked in an amazed tone, lifting her head up to look from Eponine, to the bear, and back to Eponine. Her facial expression brightened, and gently she reached over to the object and took it into her own arms. Running a finger down the bear's nose, around its eyes and then around its head, Helena looked up at Eponine with a wide grin.
"What's...his name?" she asked slowly, tilting her head to the side in curiosity.
When Nate confronted her, the child's attention turned over to him and a worried expression came over her face, as well as a slight trace of panic running through her chest. "Okay..." she replied, biting her lip a little...he'd said he'd stay in sight, right? And if he didn't, she was going after him...she wasn't going anywhere that he wasn't...he was the only person she knew, the only person she trusted, right now..
Looking over at the woman who'd just spoken, Helena glanced at the food she was waving around but didn't say much of anything...she wasn't really hungry...all she really wanted was to find her mother, then, maybe she'd eat. Looking back over her shoulder, just to make sure that Nate was still in her view, Helena's face twisted up into that of a confused way, but she didn't say anything...just turned back to the other three ladies, scanning her blue eyes over them, one by one, and then looking down at the ground.

Tabitha suddenly felt restless. Watching the others trying to prepare Eponine for travel was making her feel a little queasy so she stood up and started to walk.
Her stomach settled down as she felt the fresher air enter her lungs, slowing her humming-bird heart rate to a more sedate pace. She approached Nate and felt the nausea rise again as she saw what he was doing.
"What are you doing?" Her voice reflected her disgust at his actions. This had been a living person and he was...looting him for clothes.

Nate looked up.. again, it was a good question. What was he doing? Okay, so this wasn't exactly the center of civilisation, but surely things hadn't yet descended into Lord of the Flies territory? If anything, her disgust was a positive sign... When that died, everything would be... It didn't bear thinking about.
But while it was definately morally dubious, it had to be done. Keeping those sensibilities was a good thing, but they couldn't afford to let them stop them surviving. Act now.. lament later. Nate cleared his throat, the acidic bite of rising nausea threatening to choke him. "He doesn't need it any more".

His words seemed to freeze her blood and she just pounced on him.
"What do you mean he doesn't need it anymore. He's a human being and even though he's dead he should be treated with some respect. After this are you going to look at the other bodies too, search their pockets. That is disgusting, it's repulsive, it's vile. What kind of person are you?"
She screamed this at him, her voice getting louder and louder as her rant continued. She felt the tears force their way out of her eyes and she sank down to the sand sobbing her heart out into her hands.

Eponine only watched as all of this was going on all around her. She wasn't one to have people fuss about her even if she was hurt, for back home you always had to fend for yourselves for only the strongest survived and the weak ones were left behind. She then looked back to the little girl who had taken her bare into her arms. I called him Mr. Bobo she said and gave her a small smile. Just thinking of the name she had given that bear made her laugh. She was only little when she got him and she couldn't say many words at the time and Mr. Bobo just seemed to stick with this little bear. She was glad that she made the little girl smile. Eponine guessed that she was scared..and who wouldn't be, Eponine too was scared for this is the first time she has ever been without her parents.
Eponine then heard Angel ask if any of them were hungry. I'm fine Angel she said to her declining the offer for food. Eponine didn't know how much there was left but Eponine wasn't hungry. If anyone out of the two of them should eat it should be the little girl for she was only young and she needed the food more then she did. Her attention then went back to the kid. What's your name? she asked quietly to her. Eponine would understand if she didn't want to tell her what her name was but it would be nice to know.

Angel Could see that Eponine and Helena were getting restless and Tabitha had already flipped, so she walked over to Nate and said "Is this nearly ready, we should get moving soon!" She pointed to the contraption that he was working on, it didn't really look like it would hold Eponine's weight, but it would have to do, she needed fresh water and fast before her body started to react to the infection in her leg. If we don't get her there soon she will go into shock She thought to herself, hoping that this wouldn't happen because she didn't have anything to stop her from fitting and hardly enough Gin to clean her leg.

Nate turned to Tabitha.. had they been back before all this, he'd probably have tried to comfort her, given her a hug or something.. No, that was a lie. He'd have slunk off back to his penthouse or trailer or hotel room, all the same, all anonymous and emotionless little boxes, and set about another evening of self-destruction. As it was, he didn't intend to seem cruel, but he had to be blunt. "Me? I'm the kind of person who doesn't want to die out here. If the dead have anything we need to live, I don't think they'll begrudge us it for the sake of petty morals."
Angel came over and he looked up at her, grateful to have something to do other than try to justify his continuing existence. "Almost. This lake had better be nearby, because it's hardly precision engineering, but it'll hold" Nate got to his feet, heading back over to Helena and Eponine. He knelt down next to Helena, thinking over what Tabitha had said.
What kind of person was he? Whatever kind of person she needs me to be... If getting her home means damning myself, so be it. Maybe it's not setting the best example, but if that's what it takes, we're getting out of here The debate going on in his mind couldn't be read on his features, however.. least he hoped not. "All right, Munchkin? Told you I wouldn't be long." He smiled at her.

Angel Looked at Nate as she felt how sturdy the stretcher was and said. "This will do fine, the lake is just through those trees there. And we should get moving night is almost upon us" She let go of the stretcher and walked to where the others were gathered, and said. "Right everyone gather your things, we will be moving out soon."

Helena's lips curled into a wide smile when Eponine gave her the bear's name...Mr. Bobo? She found the name really silly...but as she took a closer look at the bear, she had to admit that it somehow suited him rather well. "I like him," she informed Eponine, giving the toy a big hug, before turning to her side and giving Eponine one, as well.
"Tank-oo," she thanked the woman, her eyes brightly lit. Looking back down at the bear, Helena pulled her blanket over herself, the bear, and partly on Eponine, listening carefully as she declined Angel's offer for food, and turning her head to look over at Eponine as she asked Helena her question.
"Hewena," she replied with a slight lisp, having always had trouble pronouncing her own name more than anything else. Almost immediately, Helena gave the girl a questioning look and raised her brow in wonder, "What's your name?"
When Nate suddenly appeared by her side, Helena jumped a bit in surprise, but her attention was on him within seconds. Leaning forward and wrapping her arms around his neck, the child watched as Angel stepped forward and told everyone to pack up...what was going on? Were they going to go find somewhere to sleep now? Helena certainly looked forward to going somewhere warm, and less scary...she was already sick of all of these trees and screams and sleeping people...
"Where are we going?" She asked slowly, letting her eyes wander from Angel, to Eponine, back to Angel, to Nate, and finally over to Tabitha, who seemed to be upset over something. Looking back at Nate with a curious expression, Helena pointed to Tabitha and asked slowly, "Why's she so sad, Nate?"

Eponine just smiled when the little girl hugged the bear and then hugged her. She heard the little girl say her name and could tell that she couldn't quiet say her name properly but Eponine could make out what she trying to say. She then heard her ask for hers. I'm Eponine she said back to the girl and watched as she put part of her blanket on her. She was such a sweet little girl just full of innocence. Innocence which can quickly be taken away in a world like this today. Eponine's attention then went to Angel as she took in what she had said. Eponine was feeling like such a burden to them seeing how they had gone through the trouble of making up such a contraption to carry her on. Eponine really didn't want to have to move again. The pain wasn't as bad since she had been sitting here. You know you can just go on without me, i'll only slow you all down She said quietly her eyes then went to little Helena and the male who she didn't know. ||sorry if that post sux||

Angel Knelt down infront of the child and said. "We are all going to the lake Helena, you see we need to get Eponine there, so we can make her leg better" She picked up her bag and put it over her shoulder, then looked at Tabitha and Eponine then to the child. "Tabitha are you alright to carry your things and Eponines? If not we could always put the guitar on the stretcher with you Eponine." she pointed to the stretcher, to insist that Eponine got onto it, thens he turned to the child. "Helena sweety could you fetch your blanket and mr bobo."

Tabitha remained quiet, he thoughts jumbled up. She felt disgusted and filthy, she really needed to get away from these people and be alone for a while, to gather her thoughts and her feelings.
Tabitha made a sort of waving motion towards the trees and said quickly. "Excuse me." She ran off towards the trees and was ingloriously sick behind them. He heart beat sped up and she started having trouble breathing. She was having a panic attack and she needed to get calm again.
To return calm she started reciting Darwin's theory of natural selection in her head. A rather odd thing to do when she was in this situation but it was part of her life.
Natural selection is the process by which biological individuals that are endowed with favorable or deleterious traits end up reproducing more or less than other individuals that do not possess such traits. Differential reproduction imposed by random factors is normally not considered to be an instance of natural selection because natural selection requires that differential reproduction be caused by differences between individuals. When a superior trait is heritable so that in the next generation one observes more individuals displaying the trait, one speaks of adaptive evolution by natural selection. Evolution, therefore, can involve changes not driven by natural selection; and natural selection is not sufficient for evolutionary change to take place, let alone for adaptive evolutionary change (since the latter requires that the selected traits be heritable). In general, however, adaptive evolution requires natural selection because the possibility that favorable traits become more frequent across generations due to random fluctuations in trait occurrence, is negligible.
This started to help and Tabitha's breathing started to level off.
